Press Release #1

In June 2015 three races in three days. Registration open to Cortina Trail, reached a thousand subscribers in 24 hours. The novelty of Cortina Skyrace.

Cortina d'Ampezzo (Dolomites, Italy), December 2, 2014 - Three races in three days, from 25 to 27 June 2015, for three different types of runners, in the breathtaking scenery of the Dolomites and Cortina d'Ampezzo: The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail, Cortina Trail and the novelty of Cortina Skyrace. It's the offer that fans of trail running and skyrunning around the world can consider for the new year.

Now in its ninth edition, 119 km of course, is part of the Ultra Trail World Tour, the circuit that brings together the ten races of the world's top trail. Pre-registrations are closed with a record: 2 thousand subscribers, double the thousand seats available (the race always has a limited number). For this reason the organizers have decided to waive and bring to 1,300 the total number of participants allowed. "For the year 2015 - said the race director, Simone Brogioni - we have 63% of foreign participants, and 55 nations represented in all five continents. We are proud of the growing success of The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail and its international dimension. Last year among the top ten women classified nine were of different nationalities, and among the top ten men, the countries represented were six".
The start is scheduled for Friday, June 26 at 11 p.m., from the centre of Cortina. Corso Italia will glow with hundreds of headlamps that will guide the athletes in their first few miles of night race, that in 119 km will embrace the most spectacular places in the Dolomites, Cristallo, Tofane, Cinque Torri, and of course the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. Participants will have 30 hours to get to Cortina within the time limit set.

Yesterday, Monday, December 1st, enrollment for Cortina Trail was opened and has already achieved a thousand members in 24 hours, its maximum capacity; the organizers are supposed to proceed, at the closing of registration, to a drawing among the runners overbooked. The Cortina Trail, now in its fourth edition, is a shorter race (47 km) with departure at 8 am on Saturday, June 27, from Corso Italia in Cortina. Athletes will have 12 hours of time to cover the circular circuit, which will follow the first 10 and the last 37 km of the route of the Lavaredo Ultra Trail. A ride for those who want to 'break' the wall of the 42 km, classic marathon distance, and to approach to the mountains enthusiasts of trail running and of the Dolomites.

The 2015 edition also brings the novelty of a new race, the Cortina Skyrace, leaving at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. Twenty kilometers and a thousand feet of elevation gain for this skyrace that departs and arrives from the centre of Cortina and leads to the discovery of the entire Ampezzo valley. Forcella Zumeles, the highest point of the route, must be won by climbing steep grassy and rocky slopes, but it gives a fantastic view on the Queen of the Dolomites and the mountains that surround it: Cristallo, Tofane, Cinque Torri, until Pelmo, Civetta and Marmolada. Registration will open February 12, 2015, for a total of 300 runners allowed and a maximum capacity of 3 ½ hours. "It will be a three-day intensive - comments Brogioni - with three events connected globally with each other, to involve different types of runners, but united by the “trail spirit”: special care for the environment, themselves and the competitors".
